Why are bars so popular?

Have you ever visited to a city and see a stream of bars in a row? Or have you been in a rural area and only notice patrons at the local bar? I think the reason why bars are so popular is because they offer comfort, its disarming, and of course you can live in a fantasy. So, let’s discuss this further. Is a bar comforting? Absolutely, YES. No matter if it is a high-end hotel bar; or a ‘hole in wall.’ A bar is typically a place where you can ‘let your hair down.’ How is a bar disarming? Typically, a person who is visiting a bar is trying to relax. So, you have a group of people who are less likely to engage in any stressful situation. Okay, how can one live in a fantasy in a bar? Think about it. A bar offers beverages that intoxicates you. And in a state of intoxication, you may think you are prettier, smooth talker, or incredible hulk. So, what does this have to do with motivation? Simple:   Treat your customer as they are coming into your bar. If they feel comfo...

Be Thankful

I know we hear this time and time again, that’s Thanksgiving is about giving ‘thanks!’ But, how many of us actually do this? Take time to give thanks by doing something for others, spending time with love ones, and being appreciative of the things you have. Know there are people less fortunate than you. Thanksgiving is a chance for you to express your appreciation for the big and small things in life. I know that everything in your life might not be going as planned. But, appreciation is a way to (1) focus on what you have, (2) find opportunities for growth, and (3) destress your life from everything that seems to be going wrong. And know this, there is always someone who can use your help. So, you complaining about something that is not going right might be something small for someone who does not have a place to live or food to eat. Sometimes we can get lost in our own world where we feel that the small problems of our life are major. Spend some time with others who think ...

Consistency is the Cousin to Success?

What do I mean consistency is the cousin to success ?  There are a lot of people that think you become an overnight success, except the successful. The successful know that what appears to be ‘an overnight success’ took years of working on their craft. To be successful, you have to have a certain high level of consistency. You must stick to your plan, goals, and vision! How many of you guys know someone who is always trying something new and trying something different but never sticks with anything? My point exactly. You either knew or thought of someone in your mind instantly. Now, I don't think it's bad to try something new or to switch it up. However, I think the more times you switch it up and deviate from your original plans, the less likely you are to achieve them. Success can be elusive to some. But, it's really not. Success comes to those who really want it. And consistency is one of the determining factors of achieving success. I wanted to make money to p...

Let people know what you represent?

Why you should let people know who you are? Well, first, how are you going to get paid? If people don't know who you are, what you do, and how you make money; there's no way that they can refer you business. I'm not saying throw your success in people face. Just because you are in the top of your class and make a million dollars a year, does not mean everyone wants to hear it. However, if you want to help others to be in the top of their class or make a million dollars, TELL people . If you want to be successful in life you have to let people know what you do for a living, what you're about, and what you represent. I am doing this program 75 Hard developed by Andy Frisella . And the programs require no drinking and working out twice a day, amongst other things. For me to be successful with this program, my group of friends and family need to understand that I'm not drinking alcohol and my time is very limited. So I'm now on day 40 something. But I think th...

Being Honest with Your Lawyer

I know you think this might sounds like common sense, but a lot of people don’t understand the importance of being honest with their lawyer. Honesty with the right people is important. If you can’t be honest with your lawyer, then who can you be honest with. So why is it important to be honest with your lawyer ? 1.        The lawyer needs to understand where to start 2.        You don’t want anything unexpecting to come out in court I know this sounds simple, but please know that we all have our own faults. A lawyer is to advocate for you even in your worst situation. And the lawyer has probably heard worst. Now, I’m not saying that you need to tell every last detail. But, there are some details that every lawyer needs to know about their client. There are certain aspects that a lawyer must report. For example, if a client is going to cause injury towards themselves or others, the lawyer has to notify authorities. ...

Why everyone should be selling?

This is something that I’ve been avoiding for a large part of my life:  Selling . Yes, if you own a business or work for a company, you need to be selling! Why? Because revenue conquers all! And how do you obtain or increase revenue? You increase it with sales. No matter what field you work in, you are doing some form of selling. Yes, you may be a doctor, lawyer, dental hygienist, tire repair person, etc. In all of these fields, there is an element of selling. Selling is the process of getting someone to buy a product or service. Yes, I’m having to break it down like we are in elementary school because a lot of people shy away from this as if it is a bad aura around the subject. I fell in love with selling not because of the money, even though I enjoy it. I love selling because I’m providing something to someone who needs or want it. I tell all of my clients where they are legal clients or business partners, that if it is coming out of my mouth, you can take that to ...

How to Identify Real Friends

I was asked the other day ‘why am I so motivated about business and law?’ The answer is simple, motivation helped and helps me through my lows in life, my educational degrees, etc. So, what does this have to do with friends ? Real friends will help motivate you in personal, business, etc. When I say motivate, I’m talking about investing in your business, words of encouragements, social media shares, etc. Yes, I’m one of those guys who want to make sure that everyone in my group win! And you should be one of those people as well. Helping others to accomplish their goals is the epitome of friendship. You can have a lot of friends who buy you drinks, take trips with, play golf with, etc. But, how many friends actually invest in your business whether it is a big commitment or buying a $20.00 t-shirt from your friend? I know a lot of times when we think that friendship is just about having fun, but true friendship is about helping each other out during the high and low times of life...

Are you Busy or Productive?

Dean Graziosi Show (October 9th 2020), he made raised up a good question. Are you busy or productive? A lot of times in life, I think we can get lost in the minutiae of creating a task list and checking things off of it for personal glorification. But, we need the focus on tasks that move the needle. Now, I'm reading this book by Andy Frisella and he makes a good point of being present during the montage. Sometimes we want to every obstacle and goal we face to be exciting. But, much of success is made during the mundane and boring tasks from day to day. So what is the difference between being busy and productive? Being busy is about checking items off your checklist. Being productive is about focusing on items that move the needle (Graziois, 2020). Now, there are a lot of things that could move the needle. But what needle are you trying to move at this point. I know this sound kind of philosophical, but this is an especially important point. For example, keeping up wi...

Transparency is Key

What is transparency? I know a lot of you guys are probably wondering what the hell am I talking about? Whether you are trying to grow yourself, your business, in education, your family relationships, or your spiritual walk; you need to have a certain degree of transparency with yourself and those around you. Now transparency for me is not an opportunity for you to ‘dog’ someone. Transparency is about letting yourself and others know around you what you're trying to accomplish and what it's going to take to accomplish it. Often when I talk about how to get to the next level success, I say you got to find out where you are and find out where you trying to go. Transparency affords a lot of people the opportunity to really see themselves for who they are. And I'm talking about those people who have been degraded all their life by family and friends. I am talking about those people who have been put on pedestals and have fallen. No matter where you are in life you, ...

Solving Life's Problem using math?

The reason why I love math is because there are basic laws.  And if you abide by them, you will get to a solution. You should apply this same principle is life. If you are trying to achieve a goal, it is important to know the formula to get to it. Don’t be one of those people who are arbitrarily shooting at random targets. There is a saying that if you don’t have a target, you will hit it every time. Meaning, if you don’t have any direction, you get there every time because there is no destination. If you apply the simple principles to get to where you are trying to go, you will eventually get there sooner or later. If you want to be a professional basketball player, given you have the right genes, height, speed, muscle, etc.; you’ll become one if you put in the work. You must decide what position you want to play and the work that is required to get there. The percentage of people who are slated to get to the NBA is less than 1%. You need to find out what that 1% did to ge...

Constitutional Rights 101

The purpose of this post is to open a discussion about the importance of Constitutional Rights! And how to appreciate them. Constitutional Rights were established years ago for Americans to have Civil Liberties. It sounds convoluted, but it is something that is important. If you don’t believe me, try to obtain a pistol permit, register to vote, attend public schools, etc. All these simple necessities of life are part of our constitution. So why are constitutional rights seemed to be attacked at some much, especially during election. The answer is simple:   There is not enough people who appreciate them and/or understand them. Even though, human rights have not been equal for everyone for 100 of years in America , the purpose of the constitution was to establish some time of normalcy and standards. Without this sounding like a history lesson, America was form breaking away from Great Britain . And the main reason for this was because of the many immigrants being unfairly tre...

Doing Business Internationally?

What do you need to know when conducting business international ? If you are in business, you are doing some type of international business. It is difficult these days to conduct business without having some type of international touch points. If you are in the product business, some part of your product is from out of the country. If you are providing a service, you are using some type of technology and/or service that has an international base. So now that you know that you are doing business internationally, even if it is remotely, what can you do when interacting with clients over the water? Time:   Due to different time zones, it is important to understand that others are either hours earlier than you; or hours late than you. And you must be prepared to engage customers, clients, and/or business partners on their time. Just because it is late for you and they know there is a time differences, does not mean that they want you to be in pajamas on a 10:00 p.m. Zoom ca...

Are you fact checking social media?

For some, I know this is a no-brainer question, but there is a large group of people who take social media at its word. Yes, I know I’m speaking of social media as a person. But this is something that I notice as a difference between generations. One generation takes social media post at face value, where another does more factchecking . I don’t know if one is better than the other, but it definitely makes me wonder if there is a significant difference. So, one school of thought is that there is more information to be processed that does not need to be filtered through the traditional methods of News Television Stations, Newspaper, Magazines, etc. For example, the viral video of police officers’ conduct when arresting Black males. If the videos have to travel through the traditional channels, those videos may have not been released. On the other hand, without some type of ‘checks and balance’ of the length and aspect of the video, the context of the video can be lost because the...

How to find a good lawyer?

How many times have you asked someone for a good lawyer? How many times has someone asked you for a good lawyer? The thing is, how do you determine a good lawyer? Do you focus on cost? Experience? Relationship? That’s nether here or there but finding a lawyer without recommendation can be stressful. However, the process is simple, especially in today’s world. You can find a great lawyer all on your own. It just takes some work. Google :   Many people underestimate the power of google. When researching a lawyer, look at their reviews, legal verdicts , etc. Most of this information is online. And Google is a great search engine platform that can cross reference a lot of information about a lawyer. Word of mouth :   As mentioned earlier, ask around. But ask those who you know will give you an unbiased opinion of their experience. Sometimes, people have a bad experience with lawyers because of the terrible facts of their case. So, don’t shy away from a lawyer because of some...

Accepting flawsome in Business?

What is flawsome? FLAWSOME : (adj.) A person who embraces all their quirks and 'flaws' and realises they are awesome regardless. Yeah, this is something that is new to me too, but here we are. One of the reasons I wanted to discuss this notion of flawsome is because this is where a large part of the world is moving to. Instead of being stuffed shirts in boardroom, there are people who wanting to be just them. And in business, it’s important to embrace this. Embracing people difference is important because in a world where everyone is the same can lead to intentional overlooking of issues within the company. However, when you have a grow of people who embrace their differences, a company can operate within true potential. Instead of puffed up people who are constantly battling for others’ jobs or parking lot. Allowing people to be them, obviously within a guidance of corporate decorum, we see our strengths and weaknesses as an organization. And therefore can move forwa...

How to determine if you have a viable case?

As you know there are several different types of cases out there. Whether that’s personal injury, business, contracts, etc. So one of the most important steps is to determine what type of case you have. Some cases might include several different types of laws. If you don’t know, I would consult an attorney. The more frequent question I get asked is there a way to determine if someone has a viable case or not? Meaning, how do you know if you case is worth pursuing? The answer to that question is simple YES! The first thing I will tell anyone is to consult a lawyer. Please visit my post on hiring a good lawyer . Many underestimate talking to a great lawyer. Consulting a lawyer is typically free. Also, due to the complexities of a singular case, it might be harder to determine the value without someone with experience. So here are my tips on determining if you have a viable case: 1.        What are your damages? Where you injured physically? Fina...

Remember your success

How many times have you beat yourself up because you aren’t where you want to be in life? How many times have you tried something, and it didn’t work? How many times have you tried something, and it was a tremendous success and you just stop doing it? All of these questions are ones we all can regrettably understand because we’ve all been there. I know that’s a lot that I just threw at you, but these are some serious questions. For me, I have always been successful in some degree, meaning most of the time I achieved goals that I set for myself. And that’s not a pat on the back for me, it is me laying the foundation for my failure. Because even though I had a lot of success, I still find myself dealing with issues that I’ve previously handled in my previous years. And it’s only because I fail to remember my previous success in business ventures, relationships, and others that I beat up on myself for not being further than where I am right now. Often times, we do one of three things...

What keeps you motivated?

The answer to that question for many are family and/or money. For me, it’s love and purpose. I know this sounds philosophical, but I’m very intrinsically motivated. Don’t get me wrong, family and money are important. And a large part of what I do is for those two reasons. But, if I had to be honest with myself, the man reason for me accomplishing most of my goals is because I care about people. When I interact with people, I have a tendency to put myself in their shoes. I ask questions why did you make this decision? How do you feel about your current situation? I mean the list of questions go on and on. No one told me to think this way. It is something that I inherently and innately do without any primer. I’ve always been a genuinely good guy. Never wanted to take from anyone or hurt anyone. With that being said, what motivates me may not do it for you. However, it is important to be motivated. One of the things I don’t like about some people is their personality of not being ...

How to develop rock solid habits in your life

So, habits are something that I constantly preach on because they are so important. Having great habits can propel you into the next level of your life. Also, habits are one of the things I’m constantly evolving with myself. Habits is basically your behavior daily. These habits can be changed at any time. You make the decision. So I have several suggestions on how to develop rock solid habits in your life:   (1) be in line with your passion ; (2) have a strong purpose for wanting to engage in a specific behavior; and (3) reward yourself. Yes, this sound simple, but how many do you know try to start working out at the beginning of the year, but by February have broken that promise? Right! What I’ve found out with habits is that most of the time, people are trying to develop habits that are entirely out of their wheelhouse. Meaning, a person might want to be a triathlete without any training on basic running skills. I’m not saying you can’t be a triathlete. I’m simply saying t...

Invest in Amazon?

So, the latest talks have been about what stocks to purchase. From Amazon, Tesla, etc. We all know these are great companies to invest in. But the more important question is when to invest in them. As non-profit donations decrease due to COVID-19, a lot of them are looking for other ways to increase incoming funds. For example, a lot of entities are looking to their investment portfolios for assistance. And I think this is a smart move to not depend upon one or two avenues of revenue. When it comes to investments, I always play the long game because you never know what is around the corner. I know this might sound like someone who is looking for the negative. But I think it is important to prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Investments are like life jackets, you don’t want to ever you use them, but it is always good to have them there. With that being said, I like the investment method that Tony Robbins talks about in his book, Money Master the Game :   Dollar Co...
