Staying true to yourself

A man saw a snake being burned to death & decided to take it out of the fire. When he did, the snake bit him. The man dropped the snake & the reptile fell back into the fire.
So, the man grabbed a metal pole, took the snake out of the fire & saved its life.
Someone who was watching asked the man, “why did you save the snake after it bit you?” The man replied, “the nature of the snake is to bite, but that’s not going to change my nature, which is to help.”

đŸ”¥Moral of story:

Don’t change your nature because of someone else bad personality.

How often have we changed who we are become someone is mad? Or we clammed up because someone didn’t respond the way that we thought they should? I think it is important to stay the course and focused regardless of other people behaviors. Too many times people want to fit in and make others happy not knowing that it is impossible. Every human being on this planet is responsible for their happiness.

Yes, it is important to stay true to yourself, but there needs to be a high degree respect for others as well. Society has been developed into thinking “tellin’ it like it is” is the best form of communication. I agree honesty and transparency is important. However, taking a chance to tear someone down to be mean and spiteful is totally unnecessary. This is the furthest from the truth. Now granted, I’ve had my fair share of exploding upon others. but I’ve come to understand to be an effective leader, you must communicate EFFECTIVELY.

Essentially, do not let someone else attitude, personality, and self-doubt rub off on you. Often many do not post on social media because of the fear of what others may say About them. My rule on posting on social media are as follows: (1) does it provide help; (2) does it encourage; or (3) does it make the world a better place? It doesn’t matter if other users don’t like your content. They can simply unfollow you, unfriend, etc.

Simon Sinek, in his book The Infinite Game, talks about a just cause, meaning to ensure longevity for business over the next 100 year, there needs to be a focus on ‘just cause.’ Walmart is a good organization that follows this model. Walton stated, “if we work together, we’ll lower the cost of living for everyone … we’ll give the world an opportunity to see what it’s like to save and have a better life.”  Walton did not think about the repercussions of stockholders, investors, etc. He simply had an idea and executed it. This is the same way we need to be regarding our life mission. If you do what you love, the money will come. Money is just a measurement tool to show if you are doing it right.
