Constitutional Rights 101

The purpose of this post is to open a discussion about the importance of Constitutional Rights! And how to appreciate them.

Constitutional Rights were established years ago for Americans to have Civil Liberties. It sounds convoluted, but it is something that is important. If you don’t believe me, try to obtain a pistol permit, register to vote, attend public schools, etc. All these simple necessities of life are part of our constitution.

So why are constitutional rights seemed to be attacked at some much, especially during election. The answer is simple:  There is not enough people who appreciate them and/or understand them.

Even though, human rights have not been equal for everyone for 100 of years in America, the purpose of the constitution was to establish some time of normalcy and standards.

Without this sounding like a history lesson, America was form breaking away from Great Britain. And the main reason for this was because of the many immigrants being unfairly treated.

Fast forward to present day society, the United States of America was formed for everyone to be treated fairly. Now, the reason for me writing about this is because a new election is coming up, rather it being national or local, and it is important, regardless of your political views, to vote.

I’m not one of those people who are going to beat you across the head because you did or didn’t vote for Trump. However, as a practicing lawyer, I have a lot of clients who wish laws were different, but rarely exercise their right to vote.

If you wanting to see change from a legal standpoint, regardless of your background, race, gender, etc.; VOTE! These are the few times where the public has a ‘say so’ in the nationwide and global change. And I say global change because a lot of the decisions made by policy makers do affect global change, just take TikTok and Oracle potential partnering.

Your constitutional rights have to be protected and the best way to do so is through voting, regardless of political view.

Here are a few things you can try: Set specific, measurable goals: Make sure you know what you're working towards and how you'll know when you've achieved it. Get feedback: Ask for feedback from others and use it to improve.  However, it is important to make sure you get feedback from ‘right’ person. I mean, you know what they say about opinions.
